Cushion Review: Etude House Skin Glow Essence Cushion
One of our favorite K-Beauty brands is back with the Etude House Skin Glow Essence Cushionโa new cushion type product that would excite any K-beauty fan. I still remember my first BB cushion from them years ago and it was the Precious Mineral Any Cushion. It brings me back to this iconic CF with SHINee and Sulli. Check out my review of the new Etude House Skin Glow Essence Cushion.
About: Etude House Skin Glow Essence Cushion
The Etude House Skin Glow Essence Cushion, as stated on the box, is a glow type make up cushion which claims to make the skin look flawless and hydro-radiant, and moisturizes the skin with the help of essence ingredient. It also contains SPF50+ PA++++.
Shades
Currently, the Etude House Skin Glow Essence Cushion is available in five shades:
- #P03 Light Vanilla
- #N03 Neutral Vanilla
- #N04 Neutral Beige
- #N05 Sand
- #N06 Tan
This time, I wasn’t sure what shade to choose. We can never rely on their sample images unless we actually try the product ourselves. I took a chance and chose shade #N06 Tan. With Etude House’s BB creams before, I usually buy a Natural Beige or the shade next to that. At times, those shades may seem too light and even by choosing Tan, I knew it wouldn’t really be a dark shade. I think it’s just right for my face and neck (uneven tones) but it’s not the illuminating type. I may have to go for #N05 Sand next time.
Inside the Etude House Skin Glow Essence Cushion
This isn’t the usual Etude House cushion that I’m used to. Rather than the sponge-like cushion from their earlier lines, this one has what seems to be a net-type/filter cushion that dispenses the product. It’s also noticeably watery because of the essence. After using it, I always make sure to push the cover/puff holder tightly and in place so that the product doesn’t drip.
Thoughts about the Etude House Skin Glow Essence Cushion
Overall, it’s a really nice cushion. I’m not really fond of using cushions only because they run out pretty fast so I only carry one for touch-ups when I go out. Since they discontinued their original tube type line (I use Cotton Fit), I’m currently trying out different things such as this one.
**I’ll update this post with a swatch when I get the chance.
Pros:
- It has light to medium coverage for a natural finish. It’s a pro for me because I don’t wear heavy makeup on the daily.
- Has a dewy, glowy finish. It’s what it claims. Don’t worry about looking oily in this tropical country, the finish is just right.
- I noticed it has a slight cooling effect upon application.
- Staying power is okay. I only had the chance to have it on for about 8 hours (and I don’t even use a primer). It didn’t cake.
- Decent variety of shades for a cushion (considering most Korean brands only have really light shades).
- My face didn’t feel dry, tight, and heavy with this.
Cons:
- It’s scented and doesn’t really disappear.
- It transfers. Just don’t touch your face or be careful with your clothes and neckline.
- It must be my lack of proper skin care but it kind of clings to dry patches. Moisturizing lightly beforehand helps.
